About Me
What is a surface designer? A surface designer is an artist who creates illustrations using different genres of art such as watercolor painting, pencil drawings, texture, handwriting etc. to then digitize into repeating patterns for application onto just about any surface. Surfaces such as stationary, textiles, wallpaper, fabric, home goods and more. I started my creative journey over 15 years ago with a love of sewing and a desire to create something meaningful by hand. This has been a personal journey with a few bumps along the way and pivots. I began building my confidence with quilting and learning more along the way. Then this past year I took a quilt pattern writing course and on May 1st I released my first beginner friendly quilt pattern to the world. While I really loved the quilt pattern writing process, I also started exploring surface pattern design and watercolor. I took a surface design course and a watercolor course. I discovered during these courses how much I loved the process of inspiration to watercolor and then to digitizing a repeating pattern. Seeing my designs on products like wallpaper, fabric, apparel and home goods sealed the deal for me and so here I am pivoting into surface design. I am still creating quilt patterns, but they will be secondary to my surface design endeavors and portfolio. My work blends traditional watercolor painting and illustrations with digital design to tell meaningful visual stories. Inspired by nature and the beauty of the world around us, I create versatile, market-ready designs well suited for a variety of products and applications. I am passionate about collaborating with companies seeking fresh, distinctive designs that inspire. I invite you to explore my portfolio and reach out to me if you would like to collaborate. I am available for collaboration and licensing. Let's connect!
