I started my creative journey over 15 years ago with a love of sewing and a desire to create something meaningful by hand. This has been a personal journey with a few bumps along the way and pivots. I began building my confidence with quilting and learning more as I challenged myself with each new project and class I took. Quilting and art for me is more than a craft—it can be a source of comfort, creativity, and personal pride. Then this past year I took a quilt pattern writing course and on May 1st I released my first beginner friendly quilt pattern to the world called Birds and Bows. While I really loved the quilt pattern writing process, I also started exploring surface pattern design and watercolor. I took a surface design course and a watercolor course. I discovered during these courses how much I loved the process of inspiration, to watercolor and then to digitizing a repeating pattern. Seeing my designs on products like wallpaper, fabric, apparel and home goods sealed the deal for me and so here I am pivoting into surface design. I am still creating quilt patterns, but they will be secondary to my surface design endeavors and portfolio. I invite you to explore my portfolio and reach out to me if you would like to collaborate. I am available for collaboration and licensing. Let's connect! My email is Lisa.Hay@thequiltedhayloft.com
